January 8, 2015

I always find that the first run back from a long break is hard but you're always so happy to be running in that the adrenaline kicks in and it ends up being a great run. But the second run? Not so much…Today was gloomier, so I decided to head to the YMCA in downtown Oakland to run a few miles and decided to mix in a few intervals (whew!). But nonetheless completed 3 more miles! Cheers to healthy, wonderful movement!

First Miles of 2015

Beautiful Lake Merritt!
The first several days of 2015 were filled with the flu…and days in bed not running or hiking any miles. Finally, on January 7th I woke up feeling good enough to finally run! I went on a beautiful run around Lake Merritt in Oakland, trying to enjoy my last few days home and also trying savor being able to run in shorts and a t-shirt before heading back to the cold Ohio winter. Though the first three miles were tough after a week or more of not running, they were refreshing and reminded me why I love to run!
